As we approach the start of the colder weather, we have taken the decision to arrange for the courts and surrounds to be cleaned beginning today Monday 3rd November.

This follows discussion and investigation by the Committee regarding the current condition of the court surface and in particular, the areas where 'moss' is showing and the potential danger to slipping.

The process involves the application of a moss-kill solution followed by a power-wash to remove the dead moss and other debris which has built up over the years since the courts were last treated.

This work is planned to take three days in total - meaning play is suspended until Thursday 6th November.

We apologise for the short notice, however it is necessary to have this treatment done immediately and before the first frost settles in. In the interest of safety, delaying this any longer could potentially lead to a member slipping on the Court surface during periods of cold weather.

We hope you will understand the need to have this maintenance carried out in order to continue to provide a safe playing surface and that this minimal disruption to all our tennis will result in a better / safer / more weather performant surface in as little time as possible.

Championship day 2014 was a great success as always.

Very close, competitive tennis played at a high level across the board.

The BBQ, the home baking, the spectators - all made it a fun day ..

Central Scotland Closed Tournament 2014 will be running again August 11th-16th at Bridge of Allan Tennis Club

The Closed event is a great tournament and over the past few years we have had an increased entry in the event. Andy Murray, Judy Murray, Jamie Murray and Colin Fleming are some of the famous names that feature on the trophies - and it gives you a chance to get your name along side these greats!!

The tournament has all age groups from Mini events 8, 9 and 10 and under, as well as junior events Under 12s, 14s 16 and 18s and senior events, as well as doubles and mixed doubles. All the junior events are played during the day time and the senior events in the evening. Each event is spread over 1 or 2 days so you dont need to be available the whole week. If you look online on the LTA tournament website (tournament code NSC14S6272) it tells you which days certain events are on.

As it is a closed event you have to be a member of a club in Central Scotland (one that plays in Central leagues) or resident in Central Scotland.

We are providing a FREE Cardio Tennis Trial Introductory session for all members on Wed 18th June from 7 - 8pm.

As highlighted on the national LTA website, Cardio Tennis is a series of tennis-based drills and activities played to up-tempo music on a tennis court. It does not require tennis skills, but is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun. Whether the ball goes in or out is irrelevant as the main purpose is to get fit.

Cardio Tennis includes a warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. If you are looking for a great new way to get in shape and to burn calories, why not try Cardio Tennis?

There are drills for absolute beginners through to advanced players, all of which provide you with a great cardio workout while improving skill. Cardio Tennis is more fun than working out in a gym or other forms of exercise.

The session takes place on a tennis court and is run by a qualified tennis coach. The main purpose of the session is to provide you with an enjoyable work out. It’s not about forehands and backhands, it’s about getting in to your appropriate cardio zone and getting a great workout.

So .. we hope you'll make it along and enjoy yourselves at this fun activity!
